Abdalla Omari is a Syrian painter and film maker living in Brussels having fled his home country of Syria. Al Omari was recently granted asylum in Belgium and he currently lives and works in Brussels, where he started his project ” The Vulnerability Series”, depicting the world political figures in very vulnerable states, breaking their image of ultimate power.
The images themselves are wonderful works of art conceived out of anger and from what Omari says was a wish to have ‘sweet revenge’. This quickly turned to wanting to see what the powerful leaders would look like as vulnerable people having disarmed them through his art.
Amongst the people he has painted in this way are David Cameron, Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, Theresa May, Vladimir Putin, Bashar al-Assad and Donald Trump. It is an exceptionally thought provoking and powerful set of images.
