Scarlets remain at the top of the Pro14 Conference B after seeing off Cardiff Blues on Saturday, 29 October at Parc Y Scarlets.
Despite a second half fight back by the visitors, the reigning champions secured maximum points in their first home Welsh derby of the season.
The home side had a 15 point lead at half-time with first half tries by man of the match Hadleigh Parkes and Ryan Elias, along with eight points from Leigh Halfpenny’s boot.
However the Blues managed to come back within a point after Willis Halaholo and Wales international Lloyd Williams both scored in the second half.
Wayne Pivac’s men were able to hold off the threat with Jonathan Evans and in form winger Steff Evans scoring to secure a bonus point win.
In the same week where head coach Pivac signed a new two year contract with the region, the Scarlets had to work hard for their maximum points in front of a vocal 9,000 crowd in Llanelli.
The victory comes after two consecutive defeats against Toulon and Bath in the opening two rounds of the European Champions Cup.
Up next for the Scarlets is another home game, they face Benetton Treviso in round 8 of the Pro14 with kick off at 7:35pm.
