CARMARTHENSHIRE businesses, charities and organisations who have been impacted by the Coronavirus have until June 30 to apply for financial assistance.

Carmarthenshire County Council has so far supported more than 3,600 businesses and organisations apply for £43million of funding from two Welsh Government grant schemes.

As the deadline date approaches, Leader of the council, Cllr Emlyn Dole, is urging more to come forward and check if they’re eligible for support.

There is a grant for those paying business rates and an economic resilience fund – new applications for support under either scheme will not be considered after 5pm on Tuesday, June 30.

Up to £25,000 is being made available for qualifying retail, leisure and hospitality businesses such as shops, restaurants, cafes, drinking establishments, cinemas, live music venues, hotels, guest and boarding premises and self-catering accommodation.
Smaller businesses may be eligible for a grant of up to £10,000 and can apply for two premises in the Carmarthenshire area.

A £10,000 grant is also available for many charities and amateur sports clubs operating in the retail, leisure or hospitality sectors, also for a maximum of two premises.

“We are so pleased to have supported so many businesses to apply for financial support helping them get through this very challenging period,” said Cllr Dole.

“I want to make sure that every business, charity or organisation that is eligible for support gets it – with just a few days left to apply, now is the time to make enquiries and check whether you’re eligible. This support could make all the difference.”

The council’s economic development team is on hand to offer advice and support people to apply for the grants, although the process is straightforward.
