Terror threat level raised to ‘critical’

Britain’s terror threat level has been raised from severe to critical, indicating a further attack may be imminent following the Parsons Green tube bombing,

The statement below is from Chief Superintendent Claire Parmenter.

“Our thoughts are with the victims and families of those injured at yesterdays’ terror incident in Parsons Green, London, and also to our colleagues at the Metropolitan and British Transport Police as they continue their investigation.

“The threat level has been raised to critical, therefore we are reviewing our events and current demand. We are doing this in liaison with our colleagues and partners across the region.

“Like all other forces, we are increasing patrols. Members of the public may also see an armed presence at certain events as a precaution. There is no current plan to deploy military into our area.

“Communities should remain alert and vigilant but not alarmed. Look out for and report any suspicious activity to the Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321 or in an emergency call 999.”
