Tank causes delays on M4

Motorists may have done a double take as they travelled along the M4 towards Swansea today, Monday (Feb 5) when they saw a British tank facing them. The tank was not defending entry into Swansea and there was no military coup at the council HQ.

Llanelli Online received a call from a passing motorist (hands free) who said that they were shocked to see a full size tank facing them as they approached the Penllergaer slip road. The motorist speculated that the low loader carrying the tank had broken down and that it was being transferred to another low loader. They quipped, ‘It looked like it was heading for Llaneli and it looked like it meant business’.

Police report that the low loader transporting the tank had a puncture and the only way it could be repaired was by unloading the tank to remove and replace the transported punctured wheel.

The tailbacks were from junction 48 to 47 M4 eastbound as motorists slowed down to view this very unusual scenario.
