Around 240 competitors took part in the Sospan Sizzler triathlon today, Sunday (Jun 11). The event was meant to be a swim followed by a run and then a cycle ride but rough sea conditions meant that the swim was changed to a run instead. Speaking to competitors crossing the finishing line at Burry Port Harbour they told Llanelli Online that conditions were vey tough on the course as high winds and driving rain set in. We will bring you the full race results, the videos and all the photos soon.
Early reports suggest that the two first finishing competitors lost their spot as they had taken the wrong direction on part of the course. Early indications are that the top spots have gone to Steve Evans of Bynea Cycling Club followed by Phil Tucker of Bynea Cycling Club. Craig Seaman had led up until the final stages at Kidwelly but in his own words, ‘blew up’ having not taken in much needed nutrition. Gaynor Hughes – 3rd Female 50+ category Philip Tucker – 1st Male Senior Stephen Evans – Overall winner. Llongyfarchiadau.
