Storm Ophelia is beginning to make her mark in Carmarthenshire. With winds expected in the region of 80mph. The Met office has issued a severe weather warning. Thousands of homes in Wales have been left without power as the tail end of Hurricane Ophelia hits the country.
In Five Roads workmen were carrying out emergency repairs to telephone lines following damage caused by a large tree, which has fallen due to the severe conditions.
The incident occurred around 3pm and workmen said it was pure luck that the tree had not fallen across the main road.
Some schools have been closed in parts of Wales. and some bridges are also closed including te Britton Ferry bridge. Some flights may also be canceeled cancelled.
