Scarlets advance to the quarter-finals of Europe

SCARLETS have made the quarter-finals of the European Rugby Champions Cup for the first time since 2007 with a 30-27 victory over Toulon at Parc Y Scarlets.

In front of a sold-out 14,476 crowd, the Scarlets became the first Welsh region in six years to reach the knockouts of Europe.

The result leaves the Scarlets at the top of pool 5, with Toulon finishing in second after picking up a losing bonus point.

Wayne Pivac’s side, backed by a superb home atmosphere, have won four successive group matches after losing their opening games against Toulon and Bath.

Final Score: Scarlets 30 – 27 Toulon

Up next for the Scarlets, they turn their attention onto the Anglo-Welsh Cup where they travel to the Twickenham Stoop to face Harlequins next Saturday (Jan 27).
