THE banking giant Santander is to close up to one fifth of its branches in the U.K. putting over a thousand jobs at risk. Six of the branches to close are based in Wales.
The closures are believed to be linked to changes in the way people choose to bank.
The Spanish owned bank claim that transactions in their branches have fallen 23% in the last three years, while digital transactions have soared 99%.
