RNLI called out following reports of possible ‘missing’ dog owner

BURRY Port RNLI were called out to reports of a dog offshore in the Pwll area yesterday evening, Sunday (Nov 4).

They were paged at 4:57pm following a sighting of a dog swimming about 30 metres offshore, in the main river channel with further reports of a possible missing dog-owner in the area as well.

Burry Port UK Coastguard team and Dyfed Powys Police were also tasked to search the Coastal Path area.

A spokesperson for Burry Port RNLI said: “A thorough search was undertaken, but at around 18:30 all units were stood down, with nothing found.

“Both lifeboats safely returned to the station.”

This was the rescue team’s 66th call for 2018, the highest number of call-outs in one year mainly as the result of a very busy July/August period.
