RNLI called out following reports of person in sea

BURRY Port RNLI were called out to reports of a person entering the water in the Pwll/Llanelli beach area.

Dyfed Powys Police and Burry Port UK Coastguard teams were also tasked.

A spokesperson for RNLI said: “At 4:40pm yesterday, a pager request was received of a person seen entering the water in the Pwll/ Llanelli Beach area.

“With fast fading light, Rescue Helicopter 187, which was heading back to St Athan from Pembroke, was also tasked to search the sandbanks from Pembrey Old Harbour, eastwards towards Llanell Beach.

“At this point our Atlantic 75 Lifeboat was also dispatched to assist in the search.

After a very thorough search of the whole area, all units were stood down at around 6:15pm with nothing found.”
