Retailers sought for new Town Centre shops

Retailers sought for new Town Centre shops

To let: Town Centre shops

RETAILERS are being sought for two new shop units in Llanelli Town Centre, which are being offered by Carmarthenshire County Council at affordable rent.

The vacant shops in Stepney Street, one of the town’s main shopping streets, have just been launched having been bought and refurbished by the council as part of its Opportunity Street scheme, part-funded by the Welsh Government Vibrant and Viable Places fund.

The properties available are available on a competitive rate, and coupled with reduced business rates being offered by the Welsh Government under its business rate relief scheme, it offers an attractive package to those thinking of opening up shop in Llanelli.

Cllr Emlyn Dole, Leader of Carmarthenshire County Council, said: “We have acquired 15 properties and a development site in the last two years as part of our plans to regenerate Llanelli town centre.

“In doing so, we now have control over more business premises which allows us to set an affordable level of rent that will help new businesses to establish and sustain themselves.

“These two new shops are being actively marketed and rental levels are competitive for Llanelli. We hope this will be an attractive offer to businesses who can make an impact on the town centre and the local economy.”
