Racing hold off Scarlets in entertaining match

RACING 92 scored six tries to see off a spirited Scarlets performance in an entertaining Champions Cup encounter in Paris today, Saturday (Jan 19).

Having put Leicester Tigers to the sword last week, Scarlets were hoping to end their disappointing European campaign on a high at Paris La Défense Arena.

With over 400 travelling fans in full voice Scarlets played the better rugby and scored three tries through Johnny McNicholl (2) and Steff Evans.

Dan Jones kicked 16 points with the boot and Sam Hidalgo-Clyne slotted a late conversion but it wasn’t enough.

Tries from Juan Imhoff, Henry Chavancy, Virimi Vakatawa, Iribaren and a brace from Simon Zebo was enough for the French side to secure victory.

Maxime Machenaud added 7 points with the boot, Finn Russell (4) and Iribaren (3).
