Residents living in Burry Port are invited to a public drop-in session to discuss the closure of Harbour View Surgery.
The event will be held on 4 July from 2pm-7pm in the Memorial Hall, with representatives from the Health Board and Community Health Council on hand to speak to patients about the closure and new GP access arrangements.
Harbour View will continue providing Primary Care services until 31 July following the decision of its GP, Dr Lodha, to retire and return her Contract to the Health Board.
The majority of patients who live in the Burry Port area will be allocated to Meddygfa Tywyn Bach from 1 August 2017, a five-minute walk from Harbour View Surgery.
Jill Paterson, Interim Director of Commissioning, Primary Care, and Therapies and Health Sciences, said: “We recognise that the closure of Harbour View does affect local patients and has generated some anxiety about GP services in the Burry Port area.
“The aim of this drop-in session is to listen to the Community and to alleviate any concerns they may have. We want to engage with patients, and listen to their views so that they can feel confident about the future arrangements.
“We are pleased that the new arrangements mean patients can continue to receive the same high standards of care local to the Burry Port area.”
