Police step up presence in Carmarthen following reports of two assaults
DYFED-Powys Police are investigating reports of two assaults in Carmarthen last night, Sunday (Jul 15).
Officers were called to the town centre at 11.35pm, with reports of an incident in Lammas Street and another at Cambrian Place.
Six people were reported to have been assaulted. One man is currently in hospital in a stable condition, undergoing precautionary tests.
An armed-led enquiry is being carried out due to the possibility of a weapon having been used. Police are currently in Water Street in Carmarthen in relation to this incident.
Detective Inspector Wayne Bevan said: “People in Carmarthen might see a higher than usual presence of officers as we investigate this incident, however we would like to assure there is no threat of harm.
“We are appealing for witnesses to these assaults, which we are treating as linked, and would like to hear from anyone who was in the Lammas Street or Cambrian Place areas to contact us on 101.”
