AN incident, which has been reported as ‘arson’ took place at the Stebonheath Sports Bar in Llanelli on Wednesday (Apr 11) with damage caused to a clothing recycling bank and a number of refuge bins.
The fire service were called out at approximately 2.25am and they attended the scene to put out the fire.
Speaking to Llanelli Online, the owner of the Sports Bar Sarah Coelho said: “The clothing bank bin had been engulfed and has a lot of damage. The newspaper and cardboard bin lid has been completely burnt and the fire spread onto the neighbouring bin. The wooden fence has also been burnt.
“The Police and PCSO’s have been great.”
Some local people have also voiced their anger. One local who did not wish to be named said: “It’s a shame someone has done this when people have donated items for charity. I’m glad nobody was hurt.”
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating a report of arson at Llanelli AFC Social Club, received at approx. 3.15am on Wednesday (Apr 11).
“Sometime between midnight and 3am on Wednesday (Apr 11) a bin in the club’s car park is believed to be deliberately set on fire, causing damage to the bin and fence. Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Carter 825 by calling 101.”
