Police investigate after body found at George Street fire

Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating a house fire at George Street, Llanelli, which was reported just before 2.10pm on Wednesday, (Apr 11). Police, fire and ambulance crews attended.

Tragically, the body of a man has been found in the property and at this point no one else is unaccounted for. The death is unexplained at this time and enquiries continue to ascertain the nature and circumstances of the death.

George Street was temporarily closed to traffic but has since re-opened.

Police in Llanelli are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information that can help officers with their investigation is asked to report it by calling 101. If you are Deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired text the non-emergency number on 07811 311 908, quoting Ref: 165 of April 11.

Sean Rees, Llanelli Town Councillor for the Glanymor Ward said:

“This can only be described as a tragic incident. George Street was closed for several hours yesterday following a property fire.

“Our thoughts within the Seaside community are with the family and friends of the man who has sadly lost his life.

“The incident was reported by residents and is now being dealt with by Dyfed-Powys Police who are investigating. I would urge anyone with information relating to this incident to report it by calling 101 in order to assist the police with their enquiries.”
