Patchell double sees Scarlets defeat Glasgow

RHYS Patchell scored two tries to help Scarlets to a 26 – 8 victory over Glasgow Warriors at Parc Y Scarlets.

Gareth Davies also crossed for the home side in what was an impressive display from the reigning league champions.

It took until the 28th minute for the opening score, with Patchell cutting through the Glasgow defence to cross for his first of the evening. Leigh Halfpenny missed the conversion.

Halfpenny kicked a penalty to give his side an 8 – 0 lead at the break.

Peter Horne slotted over a penalty early in the second half to put the Scottish side on the scoreboard.

But Halfpenny replied with another penalty, which was followed by an interception try by Davies. Halfpenny was off target with the conversion.

Henry Pyrgos managed to score a try to bring his side back in the contest but it was the home side who ended strongly with Patchell crossing for his second try to finish off the win. Halfpenny converted.

Final score: Scarlets 26 – 8 Glasgow Warriors

Man of the match: Rob Evans

Up next for the Scarlets, they travel to Scotland where they will play Edinburgh in the Pro14.
