Hywel Dda University Health Board (UHB) is pleased to confirm that patients of Harbour View Surgery in Burry Port will be registered with a new GP practice, close to where they live, from 1 August 2017.
Due to the lengthy discussions and engagement with other local GP practices to ensure the quality and sustainability of future services, the Health Board regrets that it has not been possible before now to provide patients with the assurances they have been waiting for regarding the future of their GP services.
Jill Paterson Interim Director of Commissioning, Primary Care, Therapies and Health Sciences, said: “On behalf of Hywel Dda UHB, I apologise for any anxiety that may have been caused by the delay in communicating the arrangements for the future of GP services in the Burry Port area.
“The next step for us is to allocate the patients of Harbour View Surgery to their nearest GP practice and support these practices in maintaining the high standards of care currently provided.
“I can confirm that the majority of patients who live in the Burry Port area, will be allocated to Meddygfa Tywyn Bach from the 1 August 2017, a five minute walk from Harbour View Surgery.
“Harbour View Surgery will continue to provide primary care services until 31 July 2017, and therefore patients do not need to do anything at this time as they will continue to receive their care from Dr Lodha until she retires.
“All patients will receive a letter in the next few weeks which will give them the information needed about their future GP practice, as well as a helpline, should they wish to discuss their new GP practice with the Health Board.”
“I would like to thank Dr Lodha for her years of service to the community of Burry Port. We greatly appreciate the work she has done at Harbour View Surgery and extend our good wishes as she commences her retirement on 31 July.
