Neil Hamilton shows support for real ale

NEIL Hamilton, AM for Mid & West Wales, and Leader of UKIP Wales, joined fellow AM’s in Cardiff, to show his support for real ale.

Mr Hamilton, Party Spokesman for Culture, was attending a reception for CAMRA, the consumer organisation which acts as the independent voice of real ale drinkers and pub goers.

A long term and keen supporter of CAMRA, Mr Hamilton was delighted to attend the event, which also celebrated the launch of the Cross Party Group on Beer and Pubs.

He said: “I am pleased to see the continued support for real ale, which is my favourite tipple, and welcome the introduction of this Cross Party Group which will help brewers and pubs with the development of their industry.

“We have many small award winning independent breweries here in Wales, and it is a fantastic idea to hold an event where they can all come together.

“This growing industry is fast becoming one of the great success stories, particularly in Wales, where many local breweries now export abroad.

“Small independent brewers are successfully putting the Welsh drink industry on the international map, and their craft beers continue to grow in popularity in local pubs.

“With over 190,000 members, CAMRA has done a wonderful job in promoting real ale and I am delighted that a new group has been created to lend even more support.”

The event, held at the Senedd, celebrated the growing number of breweries and the contribution pubs make to communities across Wales.

The new group will also provide opportunity to engage on current issues passing through the Assembly which impact on the beer and pub sector, including the current planning system.
