Minister urges people to claim what is theirs during cost of living crisis

Minister for Social justice Jane Hutt MS has urged people to go online and use the local authority to find out what they are entitled to by way of help during the cost of living crisis.

Thousands of people in Wales are entitled to more benefits.

Families across Wales are feeling the strain on their household budgets due to the rising cost of living, making that extra bit of help more important than ever.

Many people are unaware they may be entitled to benefits that could offer them the support they need.

If you are unsure about what benefits you can claim, Advicelink Cymru can help you check and claim what’s yours.

Get in touch with one of our advisors today by calling our free helpline on 0808 250 5700.

We asked whether partners Plaid Cymru were right in asserting that the Welsh Government were dragging their heels and fiddling instead of taking urgent action on the cost of living crisis and if Plaid Cymru were correct in claiming that independence would be the solution for all of Wales’ ails.

Speaking at the press conference today, Tuesday (Oct 4). The Minister said that the announcements by the First Minister about tackling the cost of living crisis shows the Welsh Government’s commitment. She said: “We are responding to what people say what they need. I hope that Llanelli Online will help us with our ‘claim what’s yours’ campaign because you have a role to play, all the media have a role to play in actually getting the information across.”

We also asked if the Welsh Government would work with local authorities to reduce the wage gaps between the highest and lowest paid.
