Man suspected of making threats to kill leads to five hour police siege on Princess Street

A five-hour police containment in Llanelli ended with a man being arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill.

Dyfed-Powys Police officers attempted to attend at an address in Princess Street, Llanelli at approx. 12.15pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday January 30).

Due to concerns for the safety of officers attending the scene, firearms officers and a specialist negotiator were requested to attend.

Cordons were put in place to ensure the safety of all in the area as a precaution, as it was believed the occupier was in possession of a weapon.

After five hours, entry was gained by police after communication was lost with the man inside. He was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and is currently in police custody.

High visibility patrols will be carried out in the area today, as enquiries continue.
