A 31-year-old man from Llanelli has been jailed for headbutting his female victim of domestic abuse
Donald James Lyons of Bryn Siriol Llanelli appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on Friday (Jan 24) charged with three offences including two charges of assault and one of damaging a police station.
The court heard that on 06/12/2019 at Ammanford without lawful excuse, Lyons damaged Ammanford Police station intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged
Contrary to sections 1(1) and 4 of the Criminal Damage Act 1971.
Lyons pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Lyons was found guilty and ordered to pay £50 compensation.
The court heard that 0n the 6/12/19 at Llanelli, Lyons assaulted his victim thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm Contrary to section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861. Lyons had pleaded not guilty to the offence but subsequently changed his plea to guilty.
Lyons was found guilty and sentenced to 23 weeks imprisonment. A restraining order was made whereby Lyons must not seek, approach or communicate by any means, directly or indirectly with his victim.
A further charge of assault was heard by the court. The court heard that on 02/08/2019 at Llanelli Lyons assaulted his victim by beating her. He was Committed to prison for 3 weeks consecutive to offence number 2.
Lyons was ordered to pay compensation of £100, a victim surcharge of £122 and costs of £520.
