Lucky escape for family as car flips over on ice

A mother and her two young children had a lucky escape when the car they were travelling in flipped over having apparently hit ice on the A476 Llanelli to Llannon road toady, Friday (Feb 9).

A motorist who stopped at the scene told Llanelli Online: “The car had been travelling in the direction of Llannon but may have hit some ice on the road, flipped over and was facing in the direction of Llanelli.

“There was a lady, a mother and her two children, a seven-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy. They were all pretty badly shaken. I had to direct the traffic for a while before the police and first responders arrived. It happened at around 7.30 am. I believe they were taken away by ambulance to be checked over.”

It is understood that at least two first responder vehicles and one police vehicle were in attendance.

In a statement Dyfed-Powys Police said:

Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a one vehicle RTC on the A476 at Swiss Valley at around 7.50am today.

The ambulance service also attended.
