Local man Liam Lloyd has won the Llanelli Sprint Triathlon 2017. He was amongst over 400 competitors who took part in this popular annual event in Llanelli. Liam also competes for Great Britain. The event is organised by Noelwyn Daniels and it keeps getting better every year. Conditions were cold but sunny as the athletes set off early this morning, Sunday (May 14) to complete the 750m water swim, 30Km Bike ride and 5Km Run

The event has been a firm favourite with triathletes for a number of years and there have been some illustrious winners in the past including Liam Lloyd, Helen Jenkins, Mark Jenkins and Oliver Simon. This year’s event attracted over 400 athletes who enjoyed a superb event in near perfect weather conditions. It forms part of the Llanelli Multi-Sport Festival 2017.
The 4th overall finisher and Youth Winner was 15yr old Nathaniel Harries ( athlete no:148 ). Nathanial is a local athlete from Capel Hendre who attends at Amman Valley Comprehensive School and is currently the leading Welsh Youth Triathlete with the Welsh Triathlon Squad.
Welsh rugby star Shane Williams (pictured) was amongst the competitors.
