Llanelli’s artists shine at annual exhibition

Llanelli’s artists shine at annual exhibition

What have The Tate, MoMA, The Louvre and Llanelli Library got in common? They all exhibit great art of course.

Llanelli Online took a trip to the library to see some of the work on display and we were not disappointed. We met with one of Llanelli’s most well known living artist John Wynne Hopkins, the Vice Chairman of the Llanelli Art Society.

John has been painting since he was nine-years-old. His favoured subject matter is military related. Planes, tanks and soldiers all feature in his work. He also paints wonderful landscapes influenced by his early life in Africa and he calls on his local landscape of Llanelli for some of his inspiration.

John told us that this year there was an enormous variety of different styles of work on display. You can watch the full interview with John here. The exhibition is open until the 9th of February.
