Llanelli Town AFC (the Reds) top the table

LLANELLI Town AFC got back to winning ways with two important home wins within a space of five days.

The first was a brilliant 1 nil win over title rivals and league leaders Penybont last Wednesday (Mar 7). A James Loveridge goal separating the teams, when in truth, the Reds should have run out as comfortable winners but for a host of chances, which went begging.

The win put the Reds within 3 points clear of Penybont with 5 games in hand.

News broke on Friday that Penybont had been deducted 3 points for fielding an inelligible player earlier in the season.

On Saturday (Mar 10) the Reds beat relegation threatened Caerau Ely 4-1 at Stebonheath. Lee Trundle scored two on his 50th appearance for the Reds taking his total to an incredible 78 goals.  Joe Clarke and Chris Jones were the other scorers.

The Reds are now back on top going in to Friday’s home game against Goytre. With games in hand the Reds are now firm favourites to clinch the title and promotion.

Off the field the club are putting the finishing touches to their Domestic Licence application for promotion to the Welsh Premier. The club is still trying to secure investment and sponsors for next season.
