RAGSY from The Voice will be performing a song written by Llanelli’s Owain Glennister on this year’s Cân I Gymru.
Speaking to Llanelli Online Ragsy said: “I am performing on this year’s ‘ Cân I Gymru / Song for Wales’ live on S4C on St David’s Day.
“I am so excited about this as I continue to learn this beautiful Language and hopefully one day become fluent.”
The pair have been collaborating on promoting Welsh music and the Welsh language in Llanelli for some time.
Owain Glennister who runs Y Lle at Old Castle Road has created a hub for the Welsh language and culture offering a Welsh language youth club, a space for children to learn Welsh as well as a recording space for musicians.
He has already taken a number of specialist Welsh musicians on tours of the town playing in pubs. Owain says he has plans to launch a Welsh music and language local radio station in the town as well as continuing to revive Welsh traditions including the Mari Lwyd.
Ragsy has also launched his Welsh Language Tour kicking of at the Kilkenny Cat last week.
You can tune in and vote for ‘Ti’n Frawd I Mi’ on S4C on St David’s Day, March 1st
