Llanelli Online Meets CUCFCJ

Llanelli Online Meets CUCFCJ

Llanelli Online is attracting attention from Cardiff University and their centre for Community Journalism. We had a conversation with Matt Abbott earlier this month (March 2017) and we discussed the reasoning behind setting up the new hyperlocal and the future of local journalism. Out of these discussions we hope to build a relationship with the department and already have at least one intern coming to work for Llanelli Online over the Easter holidays.

We also hope to make use of the excellent training opportunities within the university and join their forum for community journalism. Matt Abbott has written a lovely article, which sums up what Llanelli Online is all about.

Matt writes:

But freelance journalist Alan Evans was determined to keep Llanelli residents informed, the council in check, and its citizens celebrated, so he set up LlanelliOnline, a new hyperlocal dedicated to news sports and events.
