LINKS charity holds successful St Elli Centre photo exhibition

LLANELLI’S mental health charity LINKS held their annual photography exhibition at the St Elli Centre on Friday (Sep 28).

On display was a wide range of photographs from wildlife to historic buildings all of which were taken by members of the charity who suffer with mental health issues.

Speaking to Llanelli Online, Ross Courtney of LINKS said he was ‘overwhelmed’ with the support shown by the local people in the community.

The tutor then went on to say: “As you can see by the photographs on display, as a tutor I am very proud of the members work. Our aim is not to sell photographs but to support those who suffer with mental health as we are a charity.

“We have sold many photographs in the last couple of days and the proceeds will go towards funding the exhibition.”

LINKS provides support and learning opportunities to those within the community who have or are experiencing mental health issues.

Following receipt of funding from The Big Lottery, LINKS has been able to create a unique service for ex-service personnel, their families and the families of those currently serving.

LINKS aim is to help people to build their self confidence and self esteem by offering a range of accredited and non accredited supported creative learning opportunities.

Over the past twenty years LINKS has supported over 300 people from this area and has mounted numerous exhibitions, published a book and produced a public awareness film about mental health.

There was also a stand which highlighted the support on offer for ex-service personnel and their families based in Llanelli.
