Light shines at Greenfield Chapel

Light shines at Greenfield Chapel

The Salvation Army Band, Cor Meibion Llanelli, Cor Curiad and pupils from Bryngwyn School played the soundtrack for the annual Festival of Light at the Greenfield Chapel on Monday (Nov 14).

A large crowd gathered inside the chapel for the festival, which in recent years had been held at the St Elli Centre. Civic Dignitaries including the Mayor of Llanelli Cllr Phillip Warlow and his consort Janice Williams were in attendance. Speakers included Reverend David Jones and Euryl Howells the Chaplain at Hywel Dda.

As well as a wonderful array of songs including the emotive ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ there was a procession of lanterns down the aisle. It was a fitting tribute to the work of the staff and committee at the hospice as well as the fundraisers who contribute so much towards the hospice.

Rev David Jones said: “Bryngwyn Hospice does so much in the community. It has been a joy to see the chapel packed to capacity. We think about Ukraine and the light and the darkness that surrounds us. It is about emphasising that the light will always overcome the darkness. The committee work so hard throughout the year.”

David Craddock the Chairman of Ty Bryngwyn Hospice: “The hospice is a wonderful institution, which gives so much peace to people in their final days and to their relatives who stya with us. It’s a great place where they can find some peace during the most difficult times they are ever going to endure. Tonight’s festival was in remembrance of many of the people who passed away at the hospice. We have many of their relatives who come every year to support us. We are so grateful to the community of Llanelli who support us not only in this festival tonight but in so many things that we do throughout the year, so much fundraising, which helps us achieve so much. It makes things easier for people in their most important dark days. It has been a wonderful night, a very sombre night and we are so pleased to have been supported by the community.”
