Katie’s skydive in aid of lifesaving charity

A Llanelli mum-of-one will take the leap in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance – by completing a skydive in July.

One of the reasons, Katie Roderick, has chosen to support the lifesaving charity is because her two-year-old little boy Eli, is ‘obsessed with the helicopters’.

Reflecting on her reasons for fundraising, Katie, 26, said: “I chose the Wales Air Ambulance because of the work they do and how they help people on a daily basis – what they do daily I think is fantastic. This amazes me and I want to show my support and give something back to them.

“Also, my son is obsessed with the helicopter, and I take him down to the Llanelli base quite often to see if we can watch it land, but we haven’t managed to catch it yet. This definitely helped me make my decision to raise funds for this charity.”

Katie has always liked the idea of doing a skydive, which she hopes will take place on July 31st at Swansea Airport, if government restrictions are lifted. She has set herself a fundraising target of £200.

Katie added: “I don’t actually know how I am with heights yet, so I’m about to find that out! It will be different to fairground rides, so it will definitely be something I’ll find out if I love or hate. For now I’m just excited about the skydive but the closer the date comes I’ll 100 per cent be nervous, but I also think I’ll feel amazing for doing it, so bring it on!

“Everyone thinks I’m crazy for doing the skydive but they’re also excited that I’ve chosen to do something good for charity.”

Katie Macro, the Charity’s South West Wales Community Fundraiser, said: “Thank you to Katie for wanting to do a skydive for our Charity. It is lovely to hear her little boy enjoys seeing the helicopters and her skydive will be a lovely story to tell him when he’s older. Thank you to everyone who has donated to Katie’s fundraiser, you’re all helping to keep our helicopters flying 24/7. Good luck, Katie, we hope you enjoy it.”
