Italian Job completed for Scarlets

SCARLETS keep themselves alive in the Champions Cup with their second win over Benetton in two weeks as they eased to a 31-12 victory at the Stadio Comunale di Monigo.

The Welsh side were far more comfortable than last weeks narrow 33-28 win at home last weekend. The win temporary places them on top the Pool 5.

In what was a one-sided first half, the Scarlets scored tries through Johnny McNicholl, Paul Asquith and Gareth Davies. Leigh Halfpenny converting all and adding a penalty giving the visitors a 24-0 half time lead.

Davies scored his second just 4 minutes into the second half to secure the bonus point with Halfpenny converting once more, however the Pro12 champions then put their foot off the gas, not adding to their score for the remainder of the game.

For Benetton, they suffered a fourth straight European defeat, they did end on a high however, with two late consolation tries from winger Monty Ioane.

Final Score: Benetton Treviso 12 – 31 Scarlets
