‘It’s knockout rugby’ – Pivac, Owens and Parkes preview Ulster clash

Grand Slam Star: Hadleigh Parkes
Well beaten: Scarlets 27 – 45 Leicester Tigers

SCARLETS face Ulster this Friday (Dec 7) in a must win European Champions Cup clash at Parc Y Scarlets.

Head coach Wayne Pivac, captain Ken Owens and centre Hadleigh Parkes sat down with the media this morning, Tuesday (Dec 4) to review their disappointing defeat against Glasgow Warriors, the Ulster fixture and talk about the future Scarlets head coach Brad Mooar.

Mooar was announced yesterday, Monday (Dec 3) as Pivac’s replacement. Mooar will bring with him a wealth of coaching experience having been assistant coach at the Crusaders for the last three seasons.

Narrow defeat: Scarlets 13 – 14 Racing 92

Scarlets narrowly lost their opening Champions cup match against Racing 92 13-14 and the following weekend were well beaten by Leicester Tigers at Welford Road.

It leaves the Welsh region with an uphill task in the four remaining group fixtures.

Speaking about this Friday’s match future Wales coach Pivac said: “It is going to come down to who handles the big moments, the pressure and takes their scoring opportunities.

“It is knockout rugby as far as we are concerned, there is only one result which keeps us alive. That builds pressure in the camp and it is down to how we respond.”
