COMPLIMENTING the in house patient radio service at Prince Philip Hospital, Radio BGM, a number of Internet driven radios have been purchased which will work in conjunction with the existing free broadband at the hospital.

Chairman of Radio BGM David Hurford said,

“The idea came about following discussions with the team based at Harrogate Hospital radio who have successfully installed over 40 of these devices in order for their Patients to be able to tune into request shows and locally featured material on their own hospital radio channel. Many times we have been approached by different wards for ways that both Staff and Patients can listen on a loudspeaker as opposed to just headphones and this provides both a simple and cost-effective answer”.

County Councillor Robert Evans and the Felinfoel Executive Committee heard about the idea whilst setting up the Coronavirus West Wales support group at the early stages of the lockdown. He said,

“We are pleased to be able to help out with the funding of these radios which I am sure will help many of the patients at Prince Philip Hospital”

Initially, 12 of the units have been ordered and these will soon be deployed within key areas, and it is hoped that additional units will follow in the near future. Thanks also to Hywel Dda IT Dept for help setting up the links.
