IT is International Women’s Day (IWD) today, Thursday (Mar 8). It is a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. #IWD2018
Now, more than ever, there’s a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. There’s a strong call to #PressforProgress motivating and uniting friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.
Llanelli Online has been out and about in Llanelli speaking to local women about what it means to them. Many were local business women who help keep the town ticking over and provide great service to the community.
There was also a stall in the St Elli Centre ‘Take Action Against Violence Towards Women’ where the women were handing out roses to other women. You can view our gallery of some very special women in Llanelli today.
Victoria Pedicini, the Chief Executive Officer of Threshold DAS said: “International Women’s Day is a time for us to celebrate the social, political, economic and cultural achievements of women, from the past, present and future. It is also a time to raise our voices and be heard, by breaking down stereotypes, initiating change and creating opportunities.”
Llanelli Online wishes you a Happy International Women’s Day wherever you are.
