Local authors have visited libraries across Carmarthenshire as part of International Literacy Day.

Lyn John, Bryan Lewis, Carole Ann Smith, Brian Noble Wendy White, and other authors visited Carmarthen, Llanelli and Ammanford Libraries when members of the public had the opportunity to speak to them and look at their publications.

Carmarthenshire Libraries have 19,000 free downloadable comic books, free online e-books, audio books and digital magazines to be enjoyed. Learn a new language, practice for a driving theory test, there’s no shortage of options at Carmarthenshire libraries.

The libraries between them have over half a million books on offer so if it’s the smell or feel of a real book you enjoy then there is plenty of choice. If you are looking specifically for books to assist your health and wellbeing there are plenty on offer from meditation, to anger relief techniques to books to help with parenting issues.

Carmarthenshire County Council executive board member for culture, sport and tourism Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths said: “I would urge people to ask library staff about our Better with Books campaign. Why not visit any of Carmarthenshire’s libraries’ from Ammanford, Carmarthen, Llanelli and local Community Libraries to our new mobile fleet?”
