EVAN Hoyt has done Llanelli and Wales proud as he bows out of the mixed doubles at Wimbledon along with his partner Eden Silva.
Hoyt and Silva reached the Quarter Finals as an unseeded wildcard pairing.
They started the quarter finals well leading by 3 games to 1 in the first set having broken the service of the number 8 seeds Dodig and Chan. They came back and won the first set 7-5 following a loss of form on service from Silva.
Spurred on by the crowd Hoyt and Silva took another convincing lead in the second set but Dodig and Chan showed incredible resilience and strength to come back when they managed to break Silva’s serve again.
The set went to a tie break and despite looking like they were going to take that Hoyt and Silva just could not convert their incredible efforts into winning points.
Dodig and Chan took the second set 7-6 to win the match two sets to love and to continue on to the Semi Finals.
The commentators praised both Hoyt and Silva but were very complimentary on the strength of service from Hoyt who was playing in his first senior championships at the All England club.
The young man who honed his tennis at the Llanelli Tennis and Squash Club gave a fantastic account of himself and will certainly be one to watch in the next championships if he qualifies.
