New Community Support Officer: Llanedi Community Council have employed a Community Support Officer. Sarah  McColl-Dorian attends and works out of the old library building on Iscoed Road.  If anyone would like to pop along to meet Sarah she would love to hear people’s views about what the community needs. She can be contacted by  email sarmacdor@gmail.com  Sarah is currently carrying out a survey to help develop a business plan for grant funding for the development of  a community building at the cricket club. Hendy carnival meeting: The next meeting for the carnival committee will be held on Tuesday 7th November where the committee will be discussing plans for the Christmas parade and the grotto. The committee have had some good news. Next year the carnival will be celebrating its 50th year in June and the committee have successfully applied to the Tesco 5p carrier bag  grant fund. As from 1st November when you shop at Tesco there will be an opportunity to vote for one of three local projects and the 50th anniversary carnival is one of the projects. All three projects, which are voted on will receive funding. The votes decide, which project receives the largest fund with three fund values on offer depending on the share of the voting. Please ask for a token every time you shop and vote for your favourite project.

Quiz Night: The Carnival Committee have been advised that this year’s annual Christmas quiz night is being planned for Wednesday 6th December. Itwill be held at Pontarddulais Rugby Club. This event is a community event that raises funds for the carnival committee and is sponsored and organised by the local Pontarddulais Town Council. If any groups or teams are interested  they will need to contact the local clerk to the council Anuerin John. Entry is £2 per person payable on the evening and all funds raised helps the Carnival Committee fund the Father Christmas Grotto at The St John’s Hall. Fireworks Display: Hendy Rugby Club will be holding a fireworks display.  Entrance for the display will be £3 for adults and £2 for under 16’s. The display will be from 6pm  on Friday 3rd November. Following the fireworks display the rugby club hosts a family friendly,  female vocalist.  Families are welcome to attend.
