Harbour View Surgery in Burry Port is returning the General Medical Services contract to Hywel Dda University Health Board (UHB) on 31 May 2017 due to the retirement of the GP Dr Lodha.
The continued sustainability of General Medical Services for the population is a priority for Hywel Dda UHB and a robust plan will be developed over the next three months to in order to ensure the optimum arrangements for patients currently registered with the practice.
Elaine Lorton, Assistant Director of Primary Care at Hywel Dda UHB said: “We accept that this may cause some concern within the community and I wish to reassure patients of Harbour View Surgery that they can still access GP services locally at the surgery’s premises.
“I am pleased that Harbour View Surgery have committed to work with us to ensure that patient services continue to be provided in the short term.
“We will be engaging with other GP surgeries locally to explore potential solutions for the longer term. Hywel Dda UHB appreciates the continuing support given by the community and remains committed to maintaining high standards of care currently provided at Harbour View Surgery.
“On behalf of Hywel Dda UHB I would like to thank Dr Lodha for her years of service to the community of Burry Port. We greatly appreciate the work she has done in providing General Medical Services at Harbour View Surgery and extend our good wishes to Dr Lodha as she commences her retirement.”
Hywel Dda UHB will write to patients in the next few weeks to advise of the plan for the service.
