Gorseinon secured the 2017 All Wales Sport Midweek League trophy by defeating Llangennech by 14 runs in a thrilling match at Llangennech Park on Friday (Aug 25).
The visitors were put in to bat first and finished with 78 runs from the 16 allocated overs. Bryn Jones was the top scorer with 29. Only he and Rhys Matthews (19) managed to attain double figures at the crease.
For the home side, Richard Clement’s score of (26) was not enough to get them over the line as they finished on 64 runs after their allocated overs. Bowler Tom Clarke took four crucial wickets for the winning side in what was an agonisingly close game with just 14 runs dictating that Gorseinon return home with the All Wales Sports Midweek League Cup.
