Give Gareth’s Bike Back! That is the message from the Burry Port Community en masse this evening, Wednesday (Mar 14) following the theft of a much loved bicycle belonging to Gareth McKibbins.
County Councillor Amanda Fox contacted Llanelli Online to relay the outrage of the community that anyone could steal Gareth’s much loved bike. She said:
“Gareth is well known and loved in the community. He is devastated that his bike was taken from him outside the Co-op last night.
“The whole community is angry and rightly so. Gareth who has downs syndrome enjoys his independence and this has been taken from him.
“Gareth just wants his bike back. There have been overwhelming offers of a new bike for him but he just wants his bike back. He has had his bike for over 20years. The bag that was on the bike along with the water bottle have been found .
“Cllr John James and I met with the local Police earlier today. The police have visited Gareth and were checking all CCTV in the area and carrying out house to house enquiries.”
Police in Burry Port say that they are investigating a theft of a mountain bike from a vulnerable adult from outside the Co-op yesterday evening. Anyone with information is asked to contact 101. Ref 32 of 14th March
