A Community Friendship Group held at Jerusalem Chapel on Monday (Mar4) has raised a whopping £375 for the chemotherapy unit at Prince Philip Hospital.

Chair of Carmarthenshire County Council Cllr Mansel Charles attended the event with county councillors Amanda Fox and John James.

Live entertainment was provided by Elaine Gilmore.

The Cheque presentation was made to Claire Rumble the fund raising officer at the hospital.

Community Friendship Group members  Cheryl Richards Lee Fox Margaret Ruzzack and Sharon Evans said that as well as presenting the cheque they had a tour of the facility.

Speaking to Llanelli Online  the group said that the importance of the unit really hit home as did the fantastic work the unit carries out with amazing members of  staff.

A spokesperson for the group said: “How many people are suffering, fighting and recovering and using this unit daily?  The staff are truly inspirational and are an absolute credit to our towns villages and communities. We will certainly focus once again to raise vital funds for the unit in the near future.”
