Frank’s artistic retrospective

Frank’s artistic retrospective

Frank Goddard is 90-years-old. He is quite sprightly for his age, no doubt through all the walking he does when out painting landscapes and seascapes. Frank is a member of the Llanelli Art Society. Self taught to begin with he retired from Trostre Tinplate Works and began night classes in art. They paid off for sure. Frank’s work is exceptionally varied and includes numerous paintings as well as ceramics, which he says all come from the inspiration he draws from the people and landscapes around Llanelli.

To celebrate his 90th birthday Frank, with the help of the Art Society has put on an exhibition, a retrospective of his work. Some of the pieces are for sale and they are very reasonably priced. He has served in the Armed Forces and had experience in places like Palestine. Some of his work is very thought provoking including the ceramic pieces depicting prisoner’s of War as well as hungry children and refugees behind barbed wire.

The exhibition is being held at Llanelli Library and it is well worth a visit. You will have to wait until Frank’s 95th if you would like to see the next one. Llanelli Online interviewed Frank today, Friday (Sep 1) and we made a film showing some of his work.
