Four cockerels dumped at side of road rescued by RSPCA

A member of the public reported the abandonment of four cockerels to the RSPCA, after spotting them last Wednesday afternoon (29 July) on Allt-Y-Graban Road.

Three white cockerels and one brown cockerel were rescued by RSPCA animal collection officer (ACO) Ellie West and are now at a local private boarding establishment.

An appeal for information has now been launched in the hope of finding out who dumped the cockerels, or any details linked to their sudden appearance on Allt-Y-Graban Road.

The cockerels were in poor condition – with some damaged feathering and bright skin from pecking. However, despite that, there are fortunately no major concerns for their welfare.

ACO West said: “These cockerels had quite a poor feathering, and had skin issues from pecking one another. It seems certain to me that they’d been dumped in this vicinity.

“These cockerels were found on Allt-Y-Graban Road in the Swansea area on 29 July. Local enquiries didn’t yield any information about where they’d come from – so we’re having to launch a wider appeal to the public.

“We’d urge anyone with information connected to this incident to contact our inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
