A first place for young Carmarthen sailor

CARMARTHENSHIRE-based IT company, BCC IT, are pleased to see sponsored 14 year old Carmarthen junior sailor Aled Llewellyn-Jones who sails for the GB Topper class gain first place at Datchet Water recently.

Aled is part of the Welsh National Squad and also the RYA British Youth Sailing National Junior Squad.

Aled joined some of the country’s best young sailors at the first national competition of 2018 on February 24 and 25 competing in extremly cold and breezy conditions at Weymouth & Portland National Sailing
Academy. From a fleet of 144 Topper dinghies, he finished in overall second place, with two race wins, a third and sixth place.

Aled also recently raced in Paignton over the weekend of March 10 and 11 with his national squad followed by another excellent race held on March 17 and 18 in freezing blowy conditions at one of the largest deep reservoirs in Southern England, Datchet Water in Berkshire with a fantastic first place win.

Aled will continue in April at the Welsh Youth and Juniors competitions held in Pwllheli, as well as further GB National Championships at Grafham Water in Cambridgeshire.

He has been training superbly over the winter at the Welsh National Sailing Centre in North Wales and at various Sailing clubs across England following an initial squad camp at the National Sailing Centre in Weymouth.
