News of a fire at an apartment block in Manchester City Centre have been surfacing on social media and news sites.
It is believed that the ninth and 10th floors of a 12-storey block on Joiner Street, near the Arndale shopping centre have been affected.
There are reports of at least 12 fire engines at the scene.
Police have advised people to avoid the area and for nearby residents to shut windows and doors.
