Reports are coming in of an incident at Tata’s Trostre Works in Llanelli. One unconfirmed report claims that there has been an explosion involving a transformer or generator.
We contacted the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service who confirmed that they attended an incident at the site responding to a call at 16:34 today, Tuesday (Aug 1).
A MAWWFRS spokesperson said: Crews from Llanelli, Gorseinon, Morriston, Pontarddulais and Ammanford attended along with specialist teams, a drone and a BA pod. The operation concluded at 17.29 this evening.
We have also received further unconfirmed reports that a substation exploded. We are told that no one was hurt in the incident.
Some areas of Llanelli suffered a power cut, possibly as a result of the explosion. We are told that power has been restored to the Tata steel works.
