Fire breaks out at Llanelli Library

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed that a call came at 14:02 today, Monday (Jul 3) to say that there was a fire at Llanelli Library. Llanelli Online were told that two appliances from Llanelli were mobilised and are still in attendance.

An aerial appliance from Swansea West was also called for along with an appliance and water bowser from Tumble

A spokesperson for MAWWFRS said: “The last message at 16:20 was that they have ‘sectorized’ the premises.

“Sector 1. Two BA’s (breathing apparatus) one hose reel jet, one thermal imaging camera, one triple extension ladder and small gear.

“Sector 2. One hose reel jet, small gear, thermal imaging camera.

“At time of that message they were stripping away roof material to expose effected areas. The Main seat of the fire has been extinguished.

“We wont know the cause until a full investigation has been completed.

“Police and ambulance have also been in attendance.”
