EU ‘Flag Mafia’ fix flags to Carmarthenshire’s bridges

THE EU flag mafia have been out and about in Carmarthen today fixing EU flags to bridges. At least four flags have been fixed along strategic points around Carmarthen Town including one on the very busy A40 near Johnstown.

Former Mid & West Wales Lib Dem Assembly Member, now a member of the Welsh Government’s EU Advisory Group, Cllr William Powell, commented:

‘I saw the EU flags earlier today, when driving along the A40. They were at the Johnstown Bridge and the Glangwili Bridge, visible prominently over the carriageway. There may have been others too.

‘I don’t know the identity of the activists, but it looks to me like the work of the ‘EU Flag Mafia.’ They are a dedicated network of intrepid pro EU activists, who have volunteers on the ground throughout Wales & the wider UK.

‘EU Flagmafia have been very active – and were instrumental in the ‘Last Night of the Proms’ EU Flag action.

‘It seems that the recent surge in support for Remain in opinion polls & the realisation of the costs of Brexit to the Welsh economy may have given further oxygen to their campaign.’
